+ How many cloth nappies do I need?

  • In order to use cloth nappies full time it is recommended that you have between 20-25 nappies.
  • The amount of nappies that you need depends on how often you want to wash them too.
  • Newborn babies go through around 10 nappies a day but as they grow bigger the daily amount used reduces.

+ How does the Pooket work?

  • The NappyNoos Pooket is a pocket nappy.
  • The snaps on the nappy help you to change the size and fit of the nappy as your baby grows. Your nappy grows with your baby.
  • The inserts work by the smaller microfibre insert wicking away urine like a sponge and then the larger hemp insert (which is more absorbent) holds the urine.
  • Simply snap the inserts together to the position you require for either a male or female child and stuff into the pocket.
  • Having two openings to the pockets makes it easier to stuff and keep inserts flat in order to ensure an even fit.
  • The snaps allow you to adjust the size of the inserts to fit the nappy as your baby grows. This also allow you to have extra absorbency where your baby needs it - the front for a boy and the middle for a girl.

+ Why should I buy from you?

  • If you use one reusable nappy every day you will be saving hundreds of disposable nappies from landfill, each one taking 500 years to degrade.
  • We are a cloth bum household and have been using reusable nappies on our daughter since she was born.
  • We have given a lot of thought to the design of the nappy to make it comfortable and efficient. We have thoroughly considered which materials to use in our nappies.
  • We have also considered the way the inserts snap together to make stuffing easier.
  • When you buy from a small business, your purchase, no matter how big or small means a great deal.
  • Nappynoos does not only provide reusable nappies and accessories but we also are doing what we can to make small changes to help protect the planet. Find out more on our 'Giving Back' page.

+ What do I get for my money?

  • A nappy which will fit your baby from birth to potty (around 9lbs to 35lbs).
  • Each nappy comes with 2 inserts (a 3 layer microfibre and two layer bamboo smaller insert and a larger 4 layer hemp insert).
  • Each nappy is £16.95 there are currently two nappy bundles available so you can save more money if you decide to buy more of our nappies.

+ Why Microfibre?

  • We chose to use microfibre for our nappy inserts because it is super quick at absorbing liquid which helps when a child has a big wee! It wicks the liquid away much faster than any other material (even bamboo) which helps to prevent leaks and stops the nappy from being flooded.
  • It is true that Microfibre is man made and it is not currently biodegradable and we have born this in mind when designing our products. However the beauty of reusable nappies is that you can use the same inserts over and over again for years and for future children.
  • Many people also buy preloved nappies so when you decide you no longer need nappies in your life you could sell them on or donate them to nappy libraries or companies who can repurpose the materials. The microfibre inserts could also be used in place of paper towels at home given how absorbent they are!
  • We considered using just bamboo for our mini insert but we really find microfibre more reliable and very efficient

+ Why Bamboo?

  • Initially our design consisted of the smaller microfibre insert and then the larger hemp insert. This worked fine initially but then we found that the hemp was too slow at absorbing.
  • Bamboo is not as fast at absorbing than microfibre but it much faster than hemp.
  • It is true that in order to get the soft buttery texture we all know and love with our bamboo inserts, the Bamboo plant needs to be processed or it just would not be comfortable for babies.
  • Bamboo is highly sustainable, natural and renewable.

+ Why Hemp?

  • Hemp has been chosen for our inserts mainly because it is so absorbent and soaks up the excess liquid which cannot be held by the microfibre insert. It is however slow at absorbing which is why it works better combined with the microfibre.
  • Hemp plants are great for the environment as they work much like trees in terms of relying on carbon dioxide. In addition, hemp can be grown within a matter of months meaning it can be replenished easily.

+ How do I wash my nappies?

  • Wash your nappies with a cold rinse cycle first or a pre-wash.
  • Follow the rinse cycle with a longer 40c wash.
  • Do not use any fabric softener or bleach as this will affect absorbency.
  • Reusable nappies should be kept away from direct heat, so do not put them on a radiator to dry. They should be air dried on the washing line or clothes horse.
  • Please visit our care guide section of the website for more information.

+ What about stains?

  • Don’t let the worry of stains put you off as these disappear if you leave them in the sunlight after washing.

+ What about postage and packaging?

  • A conscious decision has been made to avoid the use of single use plastic bags when posting our nappies to customers.
  • Your nappies will be posted to you in eco-friendly packaging which is compostable at home.
  • Our mailer bags are made from corn and are 100% plastic free.
  • Even our postage labels and logo stickers have been printed on compostable paper - just leave it in your green bin.
  • The care guide flyers and are also recyclable.

+ Where are your nappies made?

  • Our nappies are designed in Wiltshire in South West England and are made in China.
  • We chose our manufacturers very carefully. They are very experienced in children and baby products and have made their own products since 2006. They ensure the highest quality products which includes a four step inspection process.
